Good4U® 6 - tray Food Dehydrator Review

(More customer reviews)After much debate on buying the Good4U or Excalibur dehydrator, this one won out. I was impressed with the price and design of the unit. I wish I had got the Excalibur, with the problems I have had!
I used it 5 out of 7 days a week for 3 months. It started to make a loud clicking noise to which my husband figured out that the electrical tape holding some wires had come loose. After fixing that, a week later it stopped heating altogether. The heating temp switch also broke. I cook a lot of raw so it was upsetting not know what temp I was dehydrating at.
We have contacted the website and called the company's phone number to no end. Two months later NO ONE WILL CONTACT US BACK. This dehydrator has great potential, but some bugs that need to be worded out before buying. It needs the company to stand behind its guarantee to its registed buyers!
BE CAREFUL when buying this. I wish I would have bought the excalibur, because I now will buy it in addition to this broken one!

(More customer reviews)I know people experiment with their own flavorings, but for those of us too lazy or just too inexperienced, this is a great starting point. I made my first ground beef jerky with this mix and took it to a small social event that evening. All the men loved it and several of the women did too. Not for the mild of heart because there is a kick to this flavor.

(More customer reviews)The flavors of the spices are right on for what I expect from jerky we've bought at the store, but making it ourselves made the taste much better because it wasn't stale and hadn't picked up any off flavors from being stored with other products. One seasoning packet flavors an entire pound very strongly. Used with 2 pounds it was a bit too weak, so I wouldn't try to get more than 1 1/2 pounds out of 1 packet. The instructions indicated the jerky could be stored in a cool dry place and did not need refrigeration. Also, it was very informative on how to store the jerky, how long it would last, and what containers it could be kept in.

Good4U 6 Tray Dehydrator with 40 Hour Digital Timer - Black Review

Here is an update from my last post. I spoke to who I believe, is the owner of the good4u company and we had a good conversation. She has checked into the problems I was having and is taking action. A third party who is a raw food equipment supplier suggested to me that with the growing popularity of dehydrators these types of growing pains can happen. I tend to agree with him.
The construction of the good4u dehydrator is probably not as sturdy as the Excalibur but there are several features of this good4u dehydrator that I like better than the Excalibur and I hope that I can resolve this issue and find a solution.
One of the things I like about the good4u unit is that it does not need a door and you don't have to rearrange the food or move the trays for even dehydrating. The sides of this unit are solid so there is no hot air flow coming out of the sides as with some other units. It is also less expensive. I will keep you posted.

(More customer reviews)After reading tons of reviews on dehydrators and researching them I thought I wanted an Excalibur. I almost settled for a 30 year old Excalibur model when I found this beauty. I LOVE it. It's a nice solid model with 10 trays that fit snugly together. Came packaged very well and arrived quickly. I was weary of investing money in a product that wasn't a company I'd heard of but the other reviews of STX Dehydra models on Amazon let me know that this brand and the company I purchased from were top notch. I bought from Mercatile Station 2 on E-bay for a great price with free shipping for anyone who wants to know. It came within a few days. It comes with a drawer blank that wraps around the front so that you can remove several drawers and make yogurt or rise loaves of bread in it. Handy! Mine was broken but I called and they're shipping out the replacement free of charge. Jim was so helpful and pleasant to talk to. Honestly, the guy even offered that I can call back if I need help with learning how to use it.
I've never written a review before but I felt compelled to let others know about the awesome customer service with this brand. I always look to Amazon for reviews and saw that there were none for this model so I had to comment.
I'm making homemade granola this week from sprouted grains (just waiting for them to sprout)as well as some Neat Balls (meatless meatballs with cashews) and dried fruit. I will update on the functioning of this model and how the food turns out later this week or next when I've used it. For now I wanted to let people know that they can feel good about purchasing this beauty.
