L'Equip 6-Tray Food Dehydrator - Model 528 GREY Review

(More customer reviews)It worked great, until after about 20 batches, the bottom tray melted and electronics crapped out. With a 12 yr. warranty and ~$140 purchase I expected I'd have a dehydrator for life, wrong. I tried all the phone #'s, even a Canadian one, all the email addresses and they are all bunk/disconnected or don't even exist. Interesting the site appears to still be selling items though, hmmmmm. If anyone has had success with an issue like this, I would love some suggestions. -Aa

Nesco BJX-8 Jumbo Jerky Works Kit Review

(More customer reviews)am a casual user of the food dehydrator, mainly for beef jerky. I had always used thin cut steak and marinated it for a day or two and then dehydrated. Well, I received a Nesco dehydrator for christmas which had jerky spice packets included with it. Reviewing how these packets worked, i saw that it called for ground meat, a new concept for me. Well, I broke down and got this item and mixed up a small batch, and I am never going back to the steak. It took a while for me to perfect which flavors to use, but this is as close to store bought jerky you can get. My best batch is 3lbs of 96%lean ground beef, one Hot & SPicy pack, One teryaki pack, and One original pack...with one 4 oz bottle of Hickory Liquid smoke...and presto...Store bought beef jerky. I have a Nesco dehydrator (see my other review nesco fd-60), and 3 lbs ground beef fill all the trays with the flat jerky strips. Lowrey's beware. And it's quick to make this, no marinating or cutting up beef, just buy the meat, mix the spices in, and into the gun it goes, and little formed strips of beef come out the gun. It's just like a caulk gun. I make the flat strips, but this kit comes with the capability to make beef sticks as well, which are awesome as well. Try this jerky fans, you will not be disappointed

Excalibur Dehydrator Review

(More customer reviews)This dehydrator dries material by moving warm air horizontally over the holding trays. There is a control that allows the temperature to be varied with settings for various materials. A fan moves the warm air. We do not have a timer because we prefer to dehydrate by feel.
This is a good design because the works cannot be contaminated by dripping or food particles, and large items can be dehydrated by removing one or more trays to give overhead room. The material usually dries sufficiently overnight (oriental persimmon halves). Our tree produces loads of this great fruit, and the dehydrator gives us dried fruit for easy preservation. I hightly recommend this product so far (one month of use). We put the unit out on the porch or in the garage to keep the fan noise low.

(More customer reviews)We use this a lot. We use it to sprout wheat and to dry fruit (fruit leather or just dried apricots, apples, etc) and vegetables. Last year we dried some peppers and we are still enjoying them.
We have had our dryer for about 8-10 years.

(More customer reviews)I got these clean screens for my smaller FD 35 NESCO model since the other size are twice as much money. Great news: you can cut down the screens for the FD 1010 quite easily to fit the FD 35. They work great and I saved a nice bit of money.

(More customer reviews)I love this dehydrator; we actually bought two of them to keep up with the demand for crispy apple chips. Today the oldest one (was Christmas gift) started shutting off by itself, that is the fan stopped running. The older one which is a couple weeks old started last week to shut off. My husband returned it and got a replacement. I set it up this morning and the fan shut off within and hour after I started it. I have seen one other query regarding the fans shutting off. I would consider this a perfect appliance for the money if only I could find out how to fix the fan issue.
We tried using different electrical outlets but it didn't make any difference.
